Awaken

Perseverance Records third collaboration with Brian Ralston, and the first one with co-composer Kays Al-Atrakchi brings you the release of this summer's action-thriller AWAKEN.

Our third collaboration with Brian Ralston, and the first one with co-composer Kays Al-Atrakchi brings you the release of this summer's action-thriller AWAKEN.

The album, with a total running time of over an hour, features a high energy percussion-driven score, virtually every track as written for the movie, as well as the powerful, eponymous End Credits song, performed by the film's star, Natalie Burn.

Ralston is a graduate of USC where he studied under such luminaries as Christopher Young, Elmer Bernstein and David Raksin. His more recent credits include the teen heist film Graduation, the coming of age drama Don't Fade Away and the lacrosse underdog story Crooked Arrows, also available on Perseverance Records. His composing partner Kays Al-Atrakchi was born in the Italian city of Florence, but moved to Boston at the age of 17 to study at Berklee where he discovered film music for himself. His credits include the military thriller The Objective, the political comedy Mayor Cupcake and the behind-the-scenes documentary Life After Pi, in addition to a number of theme show attractions. The two composers previously worked together with Mark Atkins on the Syfy original movie Battle of Los Angeles (2011).

Awaken has done very well on the film festival circuit as it found the appropriate festivals for its female, action driven content and won quite a few awards as a result, such as Best Feature at the Artemis Women in Action Film Festival, Best Actress at the Sunscreen Film Festival in Florida and the Grand Jury Award at the Honolulu Film Festival and Best Feature Film at the LA Movie Awards. With his final thoughts, Brian recalls how this film took them to places they'd never imagine they could go: 'We would have never thought this was a festival bound film especially due to its genre, but it has continued to surprise us over and over again and is being accepted and reviewed extremely well by audiences. I think they get what we are trying to do and with a fun story performed by our amazing cast. Folks are certainly entertained by it. And in the end isn't this the whole point?'
