On July 20, 2013, Franco De Gemini passed away at the age of 84 after a long illness. One year after his loss, the publishing group he administered for nearly half a century wants to remember him through a box set that will feature some of his most beautiful, important and meaningful performances. Starting from the end with the last cue ever played in his presence, we make available again an album recorded in the ‘70s entitled L’UOMO DI RAME (THE COPPER MAN), featuring the music for a holy “field” purpose—in other words, performed with small instruments, easy to carry and apt for improvising the religious function for the “Boy Scout” corps, an organization in which the young Ferraran artist participated. L’UOMO DI RAME is not just sacred music but portrays a great array of emotions and feelings, where the solo harmonica performed by Franco De Gemini imbues the proceedings with great humanity.
It’s a beautiful, moving album crowned by a wonderful Ave Maria in various versions sung by soprano Cinzia Alessandroni and contralto Stella Salvati.
Music by Sergio Montori, orchestra conducted by Elvio Monti, this is the first in a long series of releases dedicated to one of the most important Italian film music performers of the twentieth century.
The album is released in slim jewel case featuring a picture disc, external OBI and a maxi inlay card with cover artwork by Andrea Clanetti featuring special memories dedicated to Franco De Gemini inside.
