SETTE VOLTE SETTE (aka SEVEN TIMES SEVEN), 1968, action and comedy film genre. Director Michele Lupo and other cast Gastone Moschin, Lionel Stander, Raimondo Vianello, Gordon Mitchell, Paolo Gozlino, Nazzareno Zamperla, Teodoro Agrimi, Erika Blanc, Paolo Bonacelli, Ray Lovelock, Gladys Dawson, Terry Thomas, Turi Ferro, Adolfo Celi, Neil Mc Carthy, Claudio Trionfi, Adalberto Rossetti. Taking advantage of the interest aroused among their own warders for an important football match, seven convicts breaks out of prison to print their own money. Seven inmates of a prison in London, including a grumpy, heart sick old recluse evade from prison to implement a bold plan studied in detail: print money. They steal a big roll of watermarked paper from a plant and manage to sneak inside the Mint. They immobilize the guards inside, evade security measures, remedy an accident caused by the old recluse and proceed to press two million pounds. At the sight of so much money, the old man collapses by emotion and falls as if dead. Hereinafter dragging his body and after hiding the money, the prisoners manage to return to prison before the game end. After serving their sentence they enter into possession of their Sterling Pounds, but the banknotes are worthless because of a bad ink used to print them. They plan a new bold plan and they manage to be jailed in order to have again an airtight alibi. This film captures the atmosphere, between comedy and espionage, of two great successful films: SETTE UOMINI D’ORO (Seven Golden Men) e IL GRANDE COLPO DEI SETTE UOMINI D’ORO (Seven Golden Men Strike Again). Though not the official sequel of the previous two, SEVEN TIME SEVEN, has the same composer, Armando Trovajoli. At the time a 33 rpm (Jolly LPJ 5095), time of 30:20 for eleven selections in mono, and a 45 rpm ( Joker M 7018 x 45) were released. The same material was later reissued on CD and vinyl in Japan, a country where the film attained a great success. Maestro Trovajoli composed an effervescent OST, jazz, swing and beat, performed by the orchestra and choir of Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni, where emerges the dance tune SEVEN TIME SEVEN performed by The Casuals. To produce this CD (48:18) we used the master tapes of the original album and those of the recording session in mono, which have allowed to discover about eighteen minutes of unpublished music, but also a rare stereo mix of the main theme, all restored and digitally remastered.
