Netflix Music announces the release of NOISE (Soundtrack From the Netflix Film) with music by award-winning composer Hannes De Maeyer. The 26-track album is available now on digital platforms.

Today marks the worldwide relase of Noise, a new psychological thriller, on Netflix. To accompany the film's release, Netflix Music releases the soundtrack from the film with music by Belgian composer Hannes De Maeyer (Rebel, Professor T, Torpedo).
The story follows Matt, a new dad, that relocates with his family to his childhood home where he discovers a family secret. The Belgian-Dutch cast is starring well-known actors such as Ward Kerremans, Sallie Harmsen, Johan Leysen, Jesse Mensah and Lise Ferryn.

The 'Noise OST album' is now available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms and was recorded with 12 of Belgium's finest string players, clarinet, bass clarinet and even features a 'halldorophone'. The halldorophone is a cello-like electronic instrument created by artist and designer Halldór Úlfarsson and designed specifically to feedback the strings, making use of the phenomena of positive feedback to incite the strings to drone. The instrument gained some recognition when composer Hildur Guđnadóttir used it for her original soundtrack to the movie Joker and series Chernobyl.

'We specifically chose to go for a small string instrumentation in order to highlight as much details as possible. I have used a lot of avant-garde techniques (slide to notes, slow bends, random notes ad libitum, ...) to give the strings/music an estranging atmosphere. Not too slippery, clean. It adds a mysterious and menacing atmosphere to the score.
I also conducted the orchestra for the first time. This was especially useful to be able to communicate quickly with the musicians regarding those alternative techniques and to obtain the perfect atmosphere right away.' (Hannes De Maeyer, composer)

'The scope of Hannes' music to 'Noise' is exceptional: from playful to exciting, from menacing to emotional, it beautifully accompanies the different phases in the film - past the characters - without losing sight of the main theme. For a film like this, where the soundtrack plays a very important role, it definitely brings that extra layer I was looking for. Moreover, this has become a very organic quest, in which we reacted quickly and actively contributed to what the film really needed.
An absolute pleasure to work with! (Steffen Geypen, director)
