Filmtrax Ltd. is excited to announce the release of the single “Alexa’s Theme” from the Assassin (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) with music by Mark Tewarson, available here. The full 31-track album will be available March 31 to stream on digital platforms, coinciding with the films theatrical release.

The soundtrack to Assassin was created with modular synthesizers, strings, piano and percussion. There are background textures made up of warbling synths, and distorted voices that are punctuated with emotive piano and string melodies. There are thundering, submerged sounding drums, pulsing synths, and free radical string jabs. Overall, there is an off-balance, and disorienting quality to many of the sounds to match the emotional state of the characters, who are assassins inhabiting the bodies of other people.

The main theme (Alexa’s Theme) is a nostalgic and delicate piano melody that recurs throughout the film and represents the love story of the two main characters, which is also perhaps the heart of the film.

About Mark Tewarson
Mark Tewarson is a film composer living in Los Angeles. In 2023 his music will be heard on two upcoming films, Assassin (Bruce Willis, Andy Allo) and Iceman (documentary of NBA star George Gervin). In 2018 Mark’s score for the HBO documentary “Momentum Generation” was nominated for a sports Emmy for outstanding musical direction.

Mark has had a long and diverse career, beginning as a touring and session guitar player in NYC, where he played and recorded with artists like Patti Smith, DJ Spinna, Falguni Shah, Escort, and Topaz. He was a winner of the prestigious BMI songwriting competition in 2000. He was also a part time member of the musicals Jersey Boys and Fela.

Mark gradually began to shift his focus to composing and got his start scoring numerous commercials for brands like Apple, Google, Budweiser as well as a few Superbowl commercials. This led him to the pursuit of film and the city of Los Angeles.

We had the opportunity to talk to composer Mark Tewarson. Mark Tewarson is composer of filmmusic. He is living in Los Angeles. Mark began his musical journey at a young age studying classical piano and viola at the New England Conservatory of Music. Afterwards he fell in love with the guitar and Jazz. Mark has toured as a musician playing and recording for artists like Patti Smith and Dj Spinna. Gradually he began shifting towards writing music for commercials. Now he writes music for films. He was nominated for a sports Emmy for outstanding musical direction for the HBO documentary Momentum Generation. This year you can hear his music in 2 films: Assassin with Bruce Willis and Andy Allo and Iceman. A documentary of NBA star George Gervin.
