Lakeshore Records has released Poser – Original Motion Picture Score with music by Adam Robl and Shawn Sutta. The 18-track album is comprised of elegant baroque-style music with a modern twist, offering a different perspective from Columbus, Ohio’s underground music scene, in which the film is set.

If Robl and Sutta’s names look familiar, the duo previously released their Uncle John score with Lakeshore.

Directed by Noah Dixon and Ori Segev, the film premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2021 and was theatrically released by Oscilloscope Laboratories in June 2022, Poser film is available now on VOD. The movie has since garnered Certified Fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes as well as being named a New York Times Critic’s Pick.

“At once polished and punky, “Poser” is about the maturing of a vampiric personality. Like its music, the movie feels exploratory and raw-edged, yet with a persistent pathos that clings to Lennon and isolates her.” – New York Times

“The expertly-crafted score blends classical influences with modern elements, resulting in a finished product both Baroque and progressive. Gabriela Ferrer’s layered vocals add an eerie, yet human touch that perfectly reflects the journey of Poser’s protagonist.” – Screen Rant

The duo adds, “Directors Noah Dixon and Ori Segev were incredible collaborators. They brought tons of ideas and a contagious energetic enthusiasm. They responded immediately to every version of every cue we sent them, sometimes even re-cutting the film to better match the music. Their ideas and creative spirit motivated us to create our best work and then to dig in and make it even better.”

“By crafting a luxuriously elegant and reflexive score, Sutta and Robl help chart Lennon’s ever-shifting mental state while sonically telegraphing the romanticism of live music.” – Rue Morgue

“A sonic mix of classical sophistication and more modernist fragmented instrumentation that roils around in Lennon’s mind, preening as if she’s gotten away with fooling everyone while something deeply broken resides inside.” – The Moveable Feat

About Adam Robl and Shawn Sutta

Adam Robl and Shawn Sutta, multi-instrumentalists with a shared lifelong passion for music, have been working together since 2005. Using anything from full orchestras to soundscapes crafted from a variety of unconventional instruments, the duo combines their obsession with the process of composing and recording music with their passion for the art of filmmaking.

Their first collaboration on a feature film score was for ‘Uncle John’ (directed by Steven Piet), premiering at SXSW in 2015. Later, the film was released in theaters and then on Netflix, the soundtrack was released by Lakeshore Records. Since then, they have composed music for a diverse mix of films, including ‘Poser’ (directed by Noah Dixon and Ori Segev, premiering at Tribeca 2021, theatrically released in 2022), ‘Before The Fire’ (directed by Charlie Buhler, available on Showtime), ‘Late Life” (directed by Frank Chen, available on Netflix), and ‘Grasshoppers’ (directed by Brad Bischoff, release slated for 2022).

Robl and Sutta are known for their range, passionate collaboration, and skills creating music with a broad palette of sounds and styles that enhance visual stories and bring a director’s vision to life. The team has created scores for films and episodic series showcased in theaters, HBO, Showtime, Netflix, Hulu and in festivals all over the world including Sundance, Berlin, SXSW and Tribeca.

In Poser, wallflower Lennon Gates (Sylvie Mix) yearns for access to the inner sanctum of the underground music scene in Columbus, Ohio. When she creates a podcast to interview the local artists she adores, Lennon discovers her own musical ambitions, develops a fast friendship with the striking, confident performer Bobbi Kitten, and in the process creates an identity not wholly her own. Soon, Lennon’s aspirations, with some constructive coaxing from Bobbi to find her voice, lead her down a path of dark obsession.
