Acclaimed composer Nima Fakhrara has scored the music for the new Netflix action-thriller, Lou.
Acclaimed composer Nima Fakhrara has scored the music for the new Netflix action-thriller, Lou.
Lou stars Academy Award winner Allison Janney and Emmy Award nominee Jurnee Smollett alongside Logan Marshall-Green and Ridley Asha Bateman. The film is directed by Anna Foerster from a screenplay by Maggie Cohn and Jack Stanley, with Bad Robot’s JJ Abrams, Hannah Minghella, and Jon Cohen producing. The film is now streaming globally exclusively on Netflix.
Composer Nima Fakhrara said, “The score is an auditory trip through Lou’s shadowy past, her current efforts in the film to grapple with the consequences arising from that past, as well as hints at her possible future. The unconventional bowed guitars, echoing vocals, and deep string rhythms attempt to parallel the film’s powerful undertones… Are we defined by our past actions? Do we truly have agency? Are we capable of change? These are big questions that, ultimately, may not be answerable. However, there can be value in asking and in the journey itself - thematic points which I emphasized throughout my score musically.”
Thinking she’d put her dangerous past behind her, Lou (Allison Janney) finds her quiet life interrupted when a desperate mother (Jurnee Smollett) begs her to save her kidnapped daughter.
As a massive storm rages, the two women risk their lives on a rescue mission that will test their limits and expose dark and shocking secrets from their pasts.
