Biography: (Updated 2011-09-24)

David Wingo got his start in film scoring on childhood friend David Gordon Green's debut feature GEORGE WASHINGTON, collaborating on the score with Michael Linnen. The movie went on to become one of the most acclaimed films of 2000, winning numerous awards and quickly gaining a reputation as one of the more astounding debuts in modern American cinema, eventually being released on DVD by the Criterion Collection.

Wingo and Linnen collaborated again on Green's follow-up ALL THE REAL GIRLS, which won a Special Jury Prize award at Sundance. Since that time, Wingo has worked with Green on three of his other features, working with Linnen once more on UNDERTOW (where they collaborated on several pieces with Philip Glass) and collaborating with electronic musician Jeff McIlwain on both SNOW ANGELS and the upcoming comedy THE SITTER.

Along with his work with Green and Nichols, he has also composed music for the films of other directors such as Jared Hess (GENTLEMEN BRONCOS), Craig Zobel (GREAT WORLD OF SOUND), and Todd Rohal (GUATEMALAN HANDSHAKE).

Wingo has also been active with his band Ola Podrida since 2006, putting out two full-length LPs (Ola Podrida and Belly Of The Lion) and touring the U.S. and Europe multiple times, sharing the stage with bands such as Fleet Foxes, She & Him, Beach House, & Explosions In The Sky. They have performed at such music festivals as SXSW, CMJ, Pop Montreal and the esteemed All Tomorrow's Parties in Minehead, UK.
