The original Victor Young soundtrack music for the classic 1956 film 'Around the World in 80 Days', a Technicolor epic science fiction-adventure feature starring David Niven and Cantinflas, and including cameo appearances by multiple stars, such as Buster Keaton, Fernandel, John Gielgud, Noël Coward, Red Skelton, Marlene Dietrich, and Frank Sinatra, among many others. It was produced by the Michael Todd Company, directed by Michael Anderson, and released by United Artists
Based on Jules Verne’s classic novel by the same name, the film’s music score was composed by the great Victor Young, who died at the age of 56 just three and a half weeks after the premiere. 'Around the World in 80 Days' won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Music (Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture) for Victor Young.
In addition to the complete soundtrack, this edition includes two jazz versions of the movie’s theme song, performed by the Ramsey Lewis Trio and the Jonah Jones Quartet.
