Much like the movie itself, this score almost went under my radar and I am actually glad it had not, because what I have here is another strong score to add to my collection of Harry Gregson-Williams scores.
What we have here is a holiday movie whose score uses a primary motif, which while not in particularly complex, and has it steadily evolve over the course of a movie. Much of what I adore about this movie that Harry seems to balance the modernization of synthesizer and the traditionalism of the orchestra very well. So much so that the too never over power each other and the use of the traditional orchestra is what the movie builds too.
In another composers hands this score could have been a lot worse but Harry gives us not only a great holiday score, but really one that can be enjoyed year round.
