World premiere release of complete Oscar-nominated Leonard Rosenman score for sensitive Martin Ritt drama with Mary Steenburgen, Peter Coyote, Alfre Woodard. Rosenman anchors with warm, rock-solid Americana theme, then surrounds with intricate motifs, signature harmonic complexities. After years of search for missing elements, only-surviving stereo master suitable for release surfaces in Australia courtesy John Lasher, who was provided first generation copy when considering project for release in 1983. Intrada CD offers complete score plus alternates & cues not used in final film. Authoritative notes from Rosenman friend and fellow musician Deniz Cordell offers fascinating details about project plus notated musical examples. Important work recalls composer's 1955 debut score for EAST OF EDEN! Lionel Newman conducts Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.
