THE MUSIC MAN was one of the most important and successful American musicals of the 1950s. The show transferred to London in 1961 with Hollywood star Van Johnson in the leading role and this release from Sepia pays tribute to the show by releasing the complete Original London Cast album on CD for the first time, as well as revealing new insights into the show’s genesis through previously-unreleased demo recordings of an early version of the score performed by the show’s composer Meredith Willson.

Recorded in vivid stereo sound, the cast album is the perfect complement to the composer’s own unique performances of some of the songs he ultimately decided not to use in the show. Together, they give a new look at one of the most beloved titles in musical theatre history.
