The Story:
Two sisters attempt to win over their terminally ill, difficult-to-please Aunt in hopes of becoming the beneficiaries of her wealthy estate, only to find the rest of their greedy family members have the same idea.
The Score:
“When director Dean Craig brought me onboard one of the first things we identified was the importance of rhythm. Something to highlight the tension as well as the comedy.
He wanted something unique and colorful with a jazz feel. I think this was the first film scoring gig where I was able to be more open about my jazz background! I put together a killer rhythm section of Spencer Cohen on drums and Gary Wicks on double bass. I’d find myself writing these quite detailed cues, lots of layers and melodies using baritone sax, harp and vibes.
Then I’d smash them to pieces and have Spence and Gary feature melodically, with those other instruments playing more of a supporting role. Stripping things down to be more raw, turning it all on its head like that just somehow worked for these erratic characters.”

The Composer:
Will Bates is an award-winning composer, multi-instrumentalist and founder of Fall on Your Sword.
He has composed original scores for a myriad of filmmakers including acclaimed directors Mike Cahill (Another Earth, I Origins), Alex Gibney (We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks, Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, Zero Days), Ry Russo-Young (You Won’t Miss Me, Nobody Walks) and Fisher Stevens (Mission Blue, Bright Lights).
Bates has also scored a number of television series: Golden Globe & Emmy-nominated Netflix series Unbelievable, SyFy’s hit The Magicians, Hulu’s The Path, Chance and The Looming Tower, Away for Netflix, as well as NBC’s Rise.
His most recent credits include Michael Haussman’s Edge of the World set in 19th century Borneo and Mike Cahill’s Bliss.
