Kim Bassinger and Gabriel Byrne star in Paramount Pictures' Cool World, a ground breaking, mind blowing live action/animated film guarantied to revolutionize the art of animation. Ex-con Jack Deebs (Byrne) is the writer of an underground comic called 'Cool World'. But what Deebs doesn't realize is that Cool World is actually a parallel universe which really exists somewhere in the deep recesses of his mind. Suddenly Deebs finds that he has been somehow transported to this strange land - inside a world he has created. Cool World is inhabited by 'Doodles', an entirely different species from the 'Toons' found in Roger Rabbit. Among them is a beautiful seductress named Holli Would (an animated Bassinger) who wants to leave Cool World for reality. To achieve this end she must get down to some serious love-making with Deebs. This, however, is against the law in Cool World and it is the job of detective Frank Harris (Brad Pitt) to keep these two apart.
The brilliantly epic and other-worldly music score is by Mark Isham. Isham here combines a searing jazz sound with a massive symphony orchestra and produces the powerful effect of an instrumental rock opera. This music is much more than a background score. This is a wondrous musical journey - A GREAT SOUNDTRACK ALBUM - A MASTERPIECE.
