This lively and upbeat music from East Africa was recorded on location in Tanzania from July to September 2004, as part of the production for the award-winning documentary film Liemba. The diversity and breadth of musical styles & talents on this CD reflects the rich musical heritage of this region of the world. Working in the field, these recordings were made in a variety of acoustic locales, including private homes, a church, a school yard, a remote village and along the shores of Lake Tanganyika. The documentary's soundtrack was honored with a Gold Medal for Excellence in Music for a Documentary Film at the Park City Film Music Festival in 2011.
