New Varese Club Releases

Music by Goldsmith, Silvestri, Kamen, Horner and Rosenthal

It has been a year since Varese Sarabande has released soundtrack in their Club series. Now to end this year they are back with 6 new titles. Jerry Goldsmith's complete score to Star Trek: Nemesis, Alan Silvestri's The Abyss in a Deluxe 2CD Edition, Laurence Goldenthal's Brass Target and 3 soundtrack in their Encore series. James Horner's Vibes, Michael Kamen's Suspect and Jerry Goldsmith's Runaway.
All soundtracks will be released on January 6th 2014.

After a long wait, Jerry Goldsmith's score to Star Trek: Nemesis has finally received it's Deluxe treatement. It was, sadly, one of Jerry Goldsmith’s last film scores. Only Timeline and Looney Tunes: Back In Action (both 2003) would follow it. In 2002 Jerry Goldsmith took his final voyage on the fabled USS Enterprise and gave Star Trek Nemesis and the whole Next Generation crew an epic send-off.

This is the release so many Star Trek fans have been waiting for. Goldsmith’s complete score from Star Trek Nemesis is presented, along with a set of bonus tracks that includes source music, a set of alternate cues and mixes, plus a rare opportunity to listen in to the final moments of Jerry Goldsmith on the Star Trek scoring stage with his orchestra and director Stuart Baird. 5000 Copies will be available

The second release is Alan Silvestri's score The Abyss. Alan Silvestri’s The Abyss is one of the most loved and acclaimed scores of the 80s. Alan teamed up with director James Cameron for his 1989 underwater action epic and delivered a massive work for orchestra, choir and synthesizers. The score features moments of serene beauty, gripping tension, powerful action and utterly glorious swells from the orchestra and choir. It all sounds better than ever in this new Deluxe Edition. There are 3000 copies available.

The third release is Laurence Rosenthal's Brass Target. A thrilling release for their 35th anniversary year. The perfect release, in fact, for this sole batch of anniversary year CD Club titles. Laurence Rosenthal (with a list of classics that includes Clash Of The Titans, Return Of A Man Called Horse and The Miracle Worker) goes back a long time with Varèse Sarabande — all the way, in fact … to 1978! Laurence Rosenthal’s Brass Target was actually their first release of a new film score. Celebrating not only Varèse Sarabande’s 35th Anniversary but also Brass Target’s, they are thrilled to present the CD debut of the Laurence Rosenthal’s powerful, militaristic score. 1000 Copies will be available.

Release number 4 is Michael Kamen's score to Suspect. Michael Kamen’s nail-biting and suspenseful score for Suspect (1987) has been out of print and unavailable for over 20 years! This is classic Kamen from the early days, recorded with London’s acclaimed National Philharmonic Orchestra (a favorite of Jerry Goldsmith’s). It's now available in 2000 copies as a Varese Encore release.

An Encore release of Jerry Goldsmith’s 1984 score for Runaway (1984).
Runway was one of only three all electronic scores by Goldsmith (the others were Criminal Law and Alien Nation). Of the three, however, Runaway was the most “symphonic”. The layers and textures which Goldsmith incorporated into the score, (which he performed himself), contained all the hallmarks of his compositional style. Runaway is very much a score orchestrated for synthesizers. For their previous Deluxe Edition of the score they rounded out its running time with a number of never before released cues and remastered everything from the original master tapes to make it sound better than ever. This Encore release makes our release from 2006 available for those who may have missed it. 2000 Copies will be available
