20th Century Fox sixties comedy classic with James Stewart carries fresh, winning Henry Mancini music. Written during his most creative period, MR. HOBBS boasts a memorable Mancini main theme, bright teen dance numbers, lush background scoring and a duet for Fabian and Lauri Peters. Mancini balances between two musical worlds: gently bouncing main theme and bright swinging sixties mood. Warmer moments are graced with Mancini's unique harmonies, lush solo colors. One of many highlights: father and son take boat ride to view eclipse, sunset appears, Mancini swells with French horn over strings. World Premiere release offers complete score presented in stereo, mastered from original session elements. CD also has two bonus recordings of main & secondary themes scored for small combo, not used in finished film but discovered on session master reels. This is vintage Mancini, stuffed with melody, fresh ideas, big band moods, gentle warmth. Henry Mancini conducts. Long sold-out Special Collection limited release of 1500 copies.
