Mark Isham's score for 'The Mechanic' is best described as a hard-hitting action score suffused with the iconic melodies that have become the trademark of his work. Mark is both a renowned trumpet player - highly respected in the jazz world - and a hugely successful and prolific film soundtrack composer.
Isham's musical signature is evident in his memorable scores for such notable films as Crash, (named Best Soundtrack of 2005 by Cinescape.com), Bobby, and The Black Dahlia, with it's critically lauded jazz noir soundtrack (awarded Best Score for a Drama Film - 2007, and nominated for Best Score of the Year by the International Film Music Critics Association). Other highlights include Eight Below, The Cooler, A River Runs Through It, Blade, Nell, Men of Honor, and The Secret Life of Bees. His list of collaborators in film is a veritable who's who of the entertainment industry - Robert Redford, Tom Cruise, Brian De Palma, Chick Corea, Jodi Foster, Robert Altman, Sting, Wil.I.Am, Sydney Lumet, Mick Jagger and too many more to name. The Mechanic is his latest film soundtrack.A fast-paced action-thriller, The Mechanic stars Jason Statham as a methodical hitman, and Ben Foster as his vengeful apprentice and Mark's score for the film is described by Director Simon West as 'the perfect blend of guitar, electronics, and orchestra'.
Releasing the soundtrack on his new label, MIM Records, Mark has decided to release the music in two versions: This is 'The Assassin's Edition' - a six track, 50- minute selection from the score specifically chosen and edited by Mark for maximum rocking. Mark recorded the score with the Prague National Symphony Orchestra, recorded in Dvorak Hall.
