Set in the glittering world of high fashion. Back Street is the story of a small dress shop owner in Lincoln, Nebraska who becomes one of the world's leading designer. Loosely based upon the 1931 romantic novel of the same name by Fannie Hurst (who also wrote Imitation of Life) about the “other” women in a poignant love triangle.
Frank Skinner's score is a romantic lush arranged score in the style of European romantic era classical music and is a classic example of the style that was still popular in Hollywood predominantly featuring the string and woodwind sections of the orchestra. Skinner previously rearranged classical music in his previous score for the films of Douglas Silk.
