Born in Leuven, Belgium, 1978

At the age of 6, Tuur started to play classical piano at the music academy of Leuven. In 1997, he moved to Brazil where he picked up the accordion and learned to play ‘the Brasilian way’ by joining bands and following workshops with Nana Vasconcelos and Gilberto Gil.

In Belgium he entered in the Jazz section of the Royal Conservatory and followed classes of piano and composition with Kris Defoort, Diederik Wissels, Nathalie Loriers and Pirly Zurstrassen. Later he teached piano and harmony at the ‘Jazz Studio’ in Antwerp, nowadays he is accordion teacher in the jazz Conservatory of Ghent.

In 1999 Tuur formed the group ‘Tricycle’. Playing together for 9 years now, they performed at a big variety of places and countries: Brazilian tour in 2004, ‘Jazzlabseries’ tour (Belgium) in 2005, Street art festival in Perigeux (France) in 2000, ‘Palais des Beaux Arts’ (Brussels), … In October 2005 they will be playing in China (Nanjing jazz festival) and in February they are invited to do a tour in Montreal, Québec)
Tuur also has a trio program with the famous Belgium tuba player Michel Massot and Marine Horbaczewsky, called the ‘Massot/Florizoone/Horbaczewski trio’. They released their first album 'Cinema Novo' in February 2008.
As a solist, Tuur was invited for several occasions with several musical bands: In February 2006 he will be solist with the National Orchestra of Colombia in Cali, Colombia.
He performed several times with the American composer and trombone player Garrett List, with the Belgian band Chroma, lead by composer/pianist Karel Van Marcke.
Since 2003 Tuur joined the group of Quentin Dujardin, a Belgian guitar player who mixes jazz music with flamenco and Arabic music. They performed in Belgium, Canada, France and made 2 cd’s so far.

As a composer, Tuur lately wrote the soundtrack of the Belgian film 'Moscow, Belgium' by Christophe Van Rompaey (Semaine de la critique, Cannes 2008) He also wrote several scores for short movies, Dance- theater and circus performances, Television and radio programs. In 2002 Tuur was asked to write music for the afro-Belgian ‘AZETO ORKESTRA’ in 2002 of saxophone player Pierre Vaiana and Gangbé Brasband from Bénin. With Zahava Seewald he recorded 3 cd’s for ‘TZADIC’, the music label of John Zorn, to celebrate his 10 years anniversary of ‘MASADA’
He also produced the the cd of the Antwerp Gipsy Ska Band (AGSO).
