Sogni mostruosamente proibiti (1982) represents the first collaboration between Maestro Bruno Zambrini and director Neri Parenti. A spin-off of the Fantozzi franchise, the movie starred the popular Paolo Villaggio (of course) as Paolo Coniglio, a clerk working for a company that publishes comic books.
Paolo manages to escape the daily grind through dreamlike trips in which he places himself in the middle of wonderful adventures alongside his heroine, Dalia, a fantasy character in a comic series he is working on. Everything is status quo until he meets Dalia one day in a supermarket in real life…
Maestro Zambrini’s melodies fit the genius plot splendidly, coloring everything like a musical caption. These great early ‘80s sonorities—together with the absolute cult scenes for which they were written—are cemented in our memories, whether it’s Paolo as Superman, a knight of the round table or the star of a television show.
A wonderful start for the Maestro whose collaboration remains today an integral artistic complement to the cinematic endeavors of the great director Neri Parenti.
The CD comes in a jewel case featuring the new DDJ DLX graphic layout with a 16-page booklet designed by Alessio Iannuzzi, liner notes by Daniele De Gemini and mastering by Claudio Fuiano. This is the 12th release in the series dedicated to Italian cult cinema; the 20th will come with a collector’s box to hold volumes 11-20!
