With organizations such as Earth Day going digital this year and thanks to projects dedicated to cleaning up the environment already in place since January (Forbes), all is not lost.

For Lakeshore Records‘ part, the label has a history of supporting documentaries and projects which aim to bring awareness of the state of our global environment, such as 2017’s ambitious Before The Flood collaboration with co-composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Terrapass, and close to 40 record stores across the U.S. to raise funds for the organization’s carbon emissions offset and climate change awareness missions.

Listen released by Lakeshore Records over the years from documentaries and films that focus on climate change, environmental pollution, endangered animal species, biodiversity, and more.

Acting as music supervisors for the first time, Reznor and Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl) worked in tandem with Santaolalla (The Last Of Us) and Mogwai to compose a blend of music with a cohesive vision.


“The incredible music composed for Before the Flood was one of the most unique collaborations I can think of in scoring a film,” said Fisher Stevens. “Reznor, Ross, Santaolalla and Mogwai become one voice in capturing the emotion and feeling of Leonardo DiCaprio's journey to understanding where we stand in terms of climate change, how far gone we are, what can we do about solving this issue and why people are still resistant to understanding how important it is.”

Just the other day we got a taste of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's soundtrack contribution to Before the Flood. Now, all the details about release, which also features contributions from Scottish post-rock heroes Mogwai and famed soundtracker Gustavo Santaolalla (Last of Us), have been revealed.

The soundtrack to the climate change documentary is due to arrive digitally on October 21 via Lakeshore Records, with a vinyl release also due out in the future.

As you can see from the tracklist below, the soundtrack features Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's recently teased 'A Minute to Breathe.' The pair also teams up with Santaolalla for several collaborative contributions, with Mogwai providing several exclusive pieces to the soundtrack as well.

Before the Flood was directed by Fisher Stevens (The Cove) and produced in part by Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese. It's set to debut on October 30 on the National Geographic Channel.
