Here is a very rare 2-disc set from 2000 featuring a variety of film music by the great French composer Philippe Sarde. The back cover is marked 'This CD is produced for the Promotional Purposes of the Composer' so it was obviously being distributed as a means to secure Sarde more scoring work. At the time, much of Sarde's music had not been released on CD. That has now changed, especially with the Universal France series, so you might already have much of this music. But you'd have to have a really good CD collection to have them all: for example, the delightful track called 'Gadget' from The Manhattan Project only appeared on a special version of the soundtrack, and others only on French compilations, such as the tuneful music from Clean Slate. 'Hey Stranger' is a stunning vocal by the UK singer Jimmy Somerville from the film 'Harem' (which was finally released on CD in 2013 by Quartet Records) and also appears as a bonus track on Somerville's CD Read My Lips. It's a moody, lushly-orchestrated melody that could only be by Sarde! The only track I can find no evidence of ever having been released is from the movie I Sent a Letter to My Love, and is a tender ballad for solo piano.

This is a compilation of music from many sources. Tau and EAC indicate 26 tracks to be lossless. 5 tracks (Disc 1 tracks 2, 4, 12, 15 and Disc 2 track 12) show clipping at about 21,000 kHz, which is still excellent quality. The single pop vocal (Disc 1 track 16) cuts off at 20,000.
Disc was ripped to FLAC using XLD.
This promo is in digipak format, so there is no back tray liner---only the front & back covers with 2 discs inside.
