David Bowie and Rosanna Arquette star in the offbeat crime caper The Linguini Incident. Bowie plays Monty, a down-on-his-luck bartender who has amassed a daunting collection of gambling debts. Arquette is Lucy, an aspiring escape artist, who is currently struggling with her waitressing job at a hot New York nightclub. She is an ardent collector of Houdini memorabilia and is trying to figure out how to buy the $5,000 wedding ring of Mrs. Houdini. For the answer she need look no further than the club where she works. Monty offers Lucy the $5,000 she needs to assist him in the robbery of the restaurant...and THE LINGUINI INCIDENT has begun.
The absolutely magical and brilliant score is by Thomas Newman, composer of Fried Green Tomatoes, The Player, and Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael. Newman is perhaps the most strikingly original talent in film music today. His frenetic jazz score combines beautifully with the Brazilian dance numbers provided by Pray for Rain to produce a highly listenable and energetic soundtrack.
