Phantom of the Paradise - 09/10 - Review of Robo Disco, submitted at (English)
Docked a star for not including 'Never Thought I'd Meet the Devil', as well as the superb incidental music, this soundtrack is still a cinematic glam blast!

The Phantom of the Paradise album is tons of 70's fun. Winslow Leach is touching in a leachy way, the Juicy Fruits bring the bubblegum, Harold Oblong's delivery is just plain excellent, and then there's the mighty BEEF! Phoenix's songs are probably the weakest, but they do have an awkward charm.

And who would have guessed that along with 'Evergreen' from A Star is Born, that Paul Williams would be at his finest writing sleazy satanic pop metal? Every track is a stunner, but 'The Hell of It' is the ultimate theme song for doomed ego-rockers, and brings the soundtrack to a chilling conclusion.

Great concept, great music, great lyrics, great album...'Trust me.'
