The Holy Grail of Scandinavian Film Music finally released after 40 years

The score for the most popular Norwegian movie in history, Pinchcliffe Grand Prix (Flåklypa in Norwegian) finally sees it´s premiere release 40 years after the movie opened in 1975. The richly thematic score has been in demand for decades, and with this release, the complete score will finally be available.

When Danish composer Bent Fabricius-Bjerre was asked to score the stop-motion film 'Pinchcliffe Grand Prix', no one expected it to become the most popular Norwegian movie ever. With more than 5 million theatre tickets sold, it´s probably the only movie that has sold more tickets in it's own country, than there are people in that country!

Today, 40 years after it´s release, it remains one of the most popular movies in Scandinavia, and that is partly due to the amazing music in the film. Composer Fabricius-Bjerre was already Grammy Award winning composer, and known world wide for his unique gift for melody. Pinchcliffe Grand Prix is a richly thematic score, full of instantly recognizable melodies, that will haunt the listener for days!

One of the main themes, the track Norwegian Sunset, became so popular that many actually thought it to be a traditional Norwegian folk song, and it has since been covered (along with other themes from the film) by many many artists.

Incredibly, the original score remains unreleased until now. Danish soundtrack-label PlantSounds are now releasing the complete score on a limited 40th anniversary CD, which includes alternate versions, unused cues, source music and more.

The release is limited to 1.000 units, and comes is a beautiful 8 page digipack including extensive liner notes by film music expert Mogens Skaaning Høeghsberg.

You can listen to a teaser, and pre-order the album here.
